In January of 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince, Haiti and the surrounding communities. 316,000 people died in the earthquake, another 300,000 were injured and over 1,000,000 were left homeless — many of them children. Pastor Jean Claude, a Haitian pastor and community leader, started an orphanage in the beautiful mountain village of Fond Blanc about two hours from Port-au-Prince, where he has cared for children affected by the earthquake. Next Step Ministries has teamed up with Pastor Jean Claude and Sure Foundations to finish construction on the orphanage, expand a community church, and build a brand new school and medical clinic. It is our most ambitious and challenging project to date, but with the support of teams from the US and community leaders in Fond Blanc, it’s a vision that will soon become a reality. You will have the opportunity to help build these facilities, doing challenging work like digging foundations, mixing concrete, laying block, reinforcing steel, and much more. When you aren’t sweating away, you will have a chance to pour into and love on the children staying at the orphanage, and help facilitate community ministry programs. More recently, the country of Haiti was again devastated by Hurricane Matthew. Pastor Jean Claude and Next Step Ministries is heavily involved in repairing roads, bridges, and helping the people of their mountain community create a new normal. In addition to our construction team and VBS team, we will be taking a group of medical professionals who will be involved in eye & dental care, immunizations and general health care. This trip has a need for varying skills and talents. Please join us, and the community of Fond Blanc, for a challenging and powerful mission experience.
Most mission trip attendees earn the majority of their money through various fund raising efforts and the fund raising letter provided to those who have paid their registration fee. Contact Mrs. Craig at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
