Track and Field
CCS now has TRACK & FIELD for High School...starting NOW!—Spring, 2018!!! If you or your athlete is currently in grades 9-12, come join us for a mandatory information/signup meeting in CCS Chapel at 5:30PM on Monday, March 12, 2018.
Full information about practices, the meet schedule, etc., at the meeting. If you cannot attend, please let me know so that you/your athlete can be placed on the roster. Multi-sport athletes are welcome, and we will absolutely work with your schedule! Our first meet will the Big 8 Conference Meet on Tuesday, April 3rd in Wynnewood. Come join us!
Unfamiliar with the sport of Track & Field? Unlike Cross Country at CCS, Track & Field allows athletes to compete in a number of different events which emphasize all sorts of different abilities; for example, explosive strength, sprinting speed, jumping abilities, endurance abilities, etc. And at each track meet individual athletes are allowed to compete in up to four (4) events! Here is the complete list of events which athletes will be able to compete in at each meet:
- High Jump
- Long Jump
- Shot Put
- Pole Vault
- 100 Meter Dash
- 100 Meter Hurdles (Girls only)
- 110 Meter Hurdles (Boys only)
- 200 Meter Dash
- 300 Meter Hurdles
- 400 Meter (1/4 mile) Run
- 800 Meter (1/2 mile) Run
- 1600 Meter (1 mile) Run
- 3200 Meter (2 mile) Run
- 400 Meter Relay – 4 athletes running 100 meters each
- 800 Meter Relay – 4 athletes running 200 meters each
- 1600 Meter Relay – 4 athletes running 400 meters each
- 3200 Meter Relay – 4 athletes running 800 meters each
All home athletic events are held at the CCS Activity Center, 5300 N. Interstate Drive. This complex is located 2 miles north of the main campus on the west side of I-35 between Indian Hills and Tecumseh.
